It’s the people and entities who hopped on board and bought or renewed insurance contracts with a Lloyd’s underwriter from specific syndicates. Syndicates 510, 1084, 1096, and 1245. This goes all the way back to January 1, 1997, and runs until June 15, 2023.
Now, The people who brought this class action lawsuit are claiming that these Lloyd’s syndicates were not playing a fair game. They say these syndicates were hiding the fact that there wasn’t really any competition in the Lloyd’s market. That’s where the alleged violation of RICO and other laws comes into play.
How Much Is Settlement
Those Lloyd’s London syndicates aren’t exactly saying they messed up, but they’ve gone ahead and agreed to pay up $7.9 million to put an end to this RICO class action lawsuit.
Now, what’s the deal for the class members? They will receive cash payments, and that amount depends on things like the premiums they’ve dished out and some policy details. The lawyers will also be getting something out of this deal.
