What is Buzzbug

Either known as Buzzbug or Buzz bug, it is a portable USB-rechargeable zapper that uses LED UV light to trap irritating insects like mosquitoes, gnats, and other pests without the use of toxic chemicals.

How Does It Work?

The Buzzbug is a chemical-free mosquito trapping device. Instead of chemicals, it uses UV/LED to attract insects and mosquitoes alike. Then the vacuum sucks them up and traps them.

As easy as ABC.

How To Use

  • Plug in the USB cable to a light source, charge for some hours.
  • Unplug
  • Switch on the Buzzbug
  • Place it in a dry environment

Viola! Bye Bye to mosquitoes

Cool, right? Well, not so cool.

Buzzbug Product Test

I did a 10 hours test with this product in my porch. Normally, I’ve always had trouble dealing with mosquitoes and bugs in my porch. After a 10 hour use, I noticed the following about this product –

  • The UV light was a faint dim
  • It attracted only moths and bugs. No single mosquito!
  • Not all insects that perched around the UV/LED were vacuumed, some flew away.
  • When I unscrew the bottom of the Buzzbug, most of the insects were still alive, and they flew away!

Does Buzzbug Really Work?

The answer to the question is complicated.

What you should know is this ‘Buzzbug mosquito killer’ is not a new or unique product. It was formerly sold as ‘Fuzzbug’ in 2021, and the reviews online indicate that it doesn’t work as claimed. It kills mosquitoes quite alright, but very few mosquitoes. See what users have to say –

The thing don’t work. I left it on all night long in my shop in the dark and when I came in the next morning there were no mosquitoes in the device. There were several of them in the shop buzzing around and I got bit before I sprayed with bug killer and killed them. What a waste of my money.

What You Need To Know Before Buying Buzzbug Mosquito Killer

The truth is that bug zappers work by emitting a UV light that attracts bugs to the center of the device, where they’re electrocuted. The only problem is that they aren’t killing the bugs that bother you.

Mosquitos are not attracted to ultraviolet light, but rather to cO2 and water vapor.

Forget the positive reviews online, A study from the University of Delaware tracked six residential bug zappers over a 10-week period and found that of the 13,789 insects killed, only 31 were biting flies (including mosquitoes).

That’s a sad 0.22 percent. Given this, it’s no shock that the authors of the study concluded that bug zappers are “worthless for biting fly reduction.”

What I like About Buzzbug

  • It’s portable
  • Usb rechargeable so there wouldn’t be case of electrocution

What I Don’t Like About It

  • It can’t stay on for up to 24hrs as claimed

Conclusion

Buzzbug is a viral mosquito repellant UV lamp that is being sold with deceptive marketing. Formerly sold under the name ‘Fuzzbug’, reviews show it doesn’t really work as claimed. It kills very few insects. Mosquitos are not attracted to ultraviolet light, but rather to cO2 and water vapor.
