CFPB Discrimination $6M Settlement: Scam Or Legit? Find Out
Did you receive the CFPB Discrimination $6M Settlement email? It’s not a scam.
Did you hear about that settlement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)? They agreed to pay $6 million to resolve claims of discrimination against Black and Hispanic employees.
Who Is Eligible For The CFPB Discrimination $6M Settlement
Who’s eligible for the settlement? Well, it’s for African American, Black, and/or Hispanic workers who were in non-supervisory roles at the CFPB between Feb. 13, 2011, and April 19, 2022. They need to have been in specific job positions and pay bands during that time.
The lawsuit alleges that these employees were discriminated against based on their race, which led to lower wages and other challenges. This kind of discrimination goes against the Civil Rights Act. Tough situation, but hopefully, this settlement brings some justice to those affected.
How Much Is The Settlement
CFPB is paying $6 million to resolve those discrimination claims, but they’re not admitting any wrongdoing.
Now, what’s in it for the people affected? class members can get some cash through pay band payments, scoring up to $5,250 for each year they were in certain pay bands while working at the CFPB. Those who were in lower pay bands for longer periods will get in the biggest payments.
Class members can also get some extra dough through discretionary payments. If they’ve got proof of racial discrimination, retaliation, financial losses, or emotional distress.
