What we don’t like
- False advertising – it is been advertised as an ‘Air cooler’ whereas it is just a humidifier.
- Quite expensive – chillwellac.com is selling this portable ac is for almost $60, whereas similar product are sold for below $30 on Amazon, Aliexpress, etc.
- It is not a better alternative to air conditioner or regular fan.
- It can make your room cool only if your room is very small like the size of a bathroom.
Does ChillWell AC Really Work?
Chillwell portable ac does not really work as claimed. When put to test, it only made the area surrounding it cool for a small amount of time. It didn’t do nothing to the general stuffiness of the room. Just like every mini ac that is been sold, the Chillwell AC is actually a swamp cooler not a portable air conditioner as it is called.
The advertising and branding of this product is deceptive. It cannot be an A/C unit if it is self-contained. A/C units are heat pumps — they remove heat from the air and transport the heat to another location, i.e. usually out of the space that you want to cool (think of a refrigerator moving heat from inside the closed space to the outside of it).
Conclusion
ChillWell is not an Air Conditioner Perse, but a swamp cooler. It only humidifies the air surrounding your feet, and can not work as an air cooler or regular fan. You shouldn’t have high expectations.
Great to find an honest review. Unfortunately there are so many fake “reviews” that are really glowing advertisements for this hoax.
Why doesn’t someone really test chillwell and publish results? I mean record room temperature before its ran and again afterwards? And no where do any sites even mention btu rating. Its just a slightly bigger version of arctic air products and they don’t work at all. I ended up with 4 and even running all at once it didn’t cool a 12×20 room at all. They are all a joke and a scam. Don’t waste your money on any little ac units.
