[email protected] Scam Exposed – Phishing Email!
Have you received an email from [email protected] that says there’s a complaint about your profile and you should confirm the legitimacy of your business? Beware! It is a scam. The email was sent by scammers posing as Better Business Bureau (BBB). The aim of this scam is to get your personal info, financial and business documents.
This article provides information on how the scam works, and what to do if you’re victim of this scam.
How does the [email protected] Scam Email work?
The scam starts with an email allegedly from BBB, claiming that the recipient’s company profile was reported. Recipients are told to provide sensitive documents; Utility bill, Business license/Articles of Incorporation, Tax documentation, Operating license, Insurance documents, etc. in order to confirm the legitimacy of their business. However, that is where the scam comes in.
Once you provide the listed documents, the scammers would sell the documents to the dark web, and it would be used to commit all manner of fraud. This would then be used for illegal purposes such as to create a fake invoice, to set up fraudulent online stores, etc.
