Ecowarm: What is it?

It is a portable plug-in heater sold at getecowarm.com. It allegedly uses convection ceramic heating technology, which makes it more energy-efficient than other heating solutions, Ceramic heaters like Ecowarm work this way – use the principle of resistive heating. In simple terms, this is a process that passes an electric current through a conductor to produce heat. In this case, the conductor is a ceramic plate. Ceramic offers excellent thermal conductivity as it offers more resistance to the current. As the current struggles to pass through the ceramic, it produces more heat in doing so!

How To Use

Things I wished I knew Before Buying Ecowarm Heater

First of all, Ecowarm portable heater has absolutely nothing to do with Ecowarm heating company. The latter makes radiant board and has its website as ecowarmradiantheat.com. Ecowarm portable heater on the other hand has its official website as getecowarm.com, so don’t confuse one for the other. I wished I knew this before clicking that ‘buy now’ button on getecowarm.com. Poor me! I thought the portable heater is a new product from Ecowarm radiant.

Secondly, I shouldn’t have fallen for the 50% discount sale. It is just pure sales trick. In fact, $59 is just a fair price. On Amazon there are similar portable heaters for same price. So pray tell me why the discount claim? Remind me not to fall for such offer again.

Testing & Using of Ecowarm Heater

While unboxing the product I noticed it is quite small. How would it work efficiently more than central heating as claimed by the Ads? The only plus is that it is quite affordable and uses less energy, aside that there’s no way it can outperform or work same way as central heating.

So the Ecowarm heater is to be plugged directly to a wall socket and not to an extension cord.’ When I did this, I observed the following –

• When switched on, it is pretty quiet.
• It took 3 minutes to heat.
• The room wasn’t warm even after using it for 30 minutes (wrong claim by the ad)
• It only heats up the area surrounding it.
• Ecowarm switched off on its own in barely four hours.

This doesn’t look good, but it doesn’t look too bad given the price. I know by now you’d be wondering what I was expecting? Yeah, me too.

My Findings:

Doesn’t Heat up Rooms efficiently

Though the reviews online and Ads claim the product warms up a room in 3 seconds, that isn’t the case. When we put the product to test we discovered it takes some minutes, and it can only warm maybe 5sq ft. The claim that Ecowarm heats up small and large rooms to 75 degrees in just 3 seconds is entirely false.

There’s nothing unique about Ecowarm. It’s not the first of its kind. The heater I bought two months ago, still works same way. Infact, Orbis Heater, Top Heat, AmperHeat, Artic Chill, etc. Either called portable heater or personal heater, they all work the same way. And from these reviews, you’d see that the product was far from satisfactory. It didn’t meet the expectations of customers.

What the company behind Ecowarm does is buy products for cheaper rates in China, then invest in social media advertising, SE0 advertising, copy writing and all the likes, to make the products look real or legit to buyers. They promote it to senior citizens, who have enough troubles paying their bills as it is. Then to sell them on an idea that this will save them money is unconscionable.

Is Ecowarm Portable Heater a Scam?

It is not a scam perse, but it is sold with false advertising. Ecowarm portable heater does not warm up the room within 30 seconds. It run on low watt power supplies, there just isn’t enough energy there to do what they claim. There is no such thing as a low power heater that produces full heating, except in a very small area close to it.
