Does Libiyi Drill Bit Easily Split Wood? Here’s a User Review
Can Libiyi Drill Bit split any kind kind of wood easily? Does this Easy Split Drill Bit work as advertised? Is the Libiyi Drill Bill legit or a scam tool from Libiyi? Here’s a user review.
In this review, I share my experience using Libiyi Drill Bit, its pros, cons, and everything you should expect when you buy this wood splitting tool.
What Is Libiyi Drill Bit
Libiyi Drill Bit is a tool shaped like the mouth of a pencil that works with a regular drill to make woodworking tasks easier and safer. The manufactures claim it can help spilt wood much better than regular axe.
How To Use Libiyi Drill Bit Safely
- Insert the drill bit firmly to the chuck of your power tool without battery or plugging into power source
- Ensure that the bit is securely fastened to the drill to prevent any accidents or damage
- Switch on the power source
- Drill vertically in the desired position with low drill speeds and steady pressure.
Testing Libiyi EasySplit Drill Bit:
I bought the 42mm Drill Bit for $499.99 from Libiyi.com. At first I tried it using a Milwaukee 18v drill which is how the description shows as working great. Well, it was a complete epic fail. It couldn’t get through anything and just got stuck in the log. Then I decided to use my Milwaukee 1/2″ cordless impact.
It works good in a cordless impact driver on small dry wood, like pallet skids for kindling, it makes it a bit easier instead of splitting with a hatchet. However it doesn’t work on the really hard woods like Oak, but the softer hard woods like poplar.
The Libiyi Drill Bit is good for breaking already split logs into kindling. However, for logs of any size, even if it is well dried out, the bit will quickly get stuck and stall a hand drill. And that’s assuming you can find a way to grip the log and keep it from spinning. Also this definitely requires a drill with a side handle or a very strong wrist to deal with the required torque. Any attempt to reverse and get unstuck results in the shank threading out of the bit. I had to use a pipe wrench to retrieve it.
Libiyi Drill Bit Pros: What I Like About This Wood Splitting Bit
- It’s safer than using regular hammer
- I can go camping with it because of its portability.
- Available for sale on Amazon
Libiyi EasySplit Drill Bit Cons:
- Works best on cordless impact driver
- It does not really work for splitting thick logs
- requires a drill with a side handle or a very strong wrist to deal with the required torque.
Is The Libiyi Drill Bit A Scam?
No it is not a scam, however it does not really work effectively for large logs and woods. It only works for already split wood, via the use of cordless impact.
